Fujitsu Integrates Latest Version of Kofax Award-Winning VirtualReScan (VRS) Technology Into Document Imaging Scanner Line

VRS 4.0 Technology Incorporated Into fi-5650C & fi-5750C Scanners; fi-4340C Scanner with Hi-Speed USB 2.0 Also Introduced

San Jose, CA
May 16, 2005

Fujitsu Computer Products of America, Inc., a market leader in document imaging scanners and services, today announced the integration of the newest version of Kofax® VirtualReScan® (VRS) technology into the Fujitsu fi-5650C and fi-5750C color, low-volume production scanners. Kofax VRS 4.0 makes scanning more efficient and enhances the quality of scanned images by offering the ability to add color processing and features that further automate document preparation. Fujitsu customers purchasing the fi-4120C2, fi-4220C2, fi-4340C, or fi-4530C scanner through the company’s channel partners will also receive a free upgrade to the VRS 4.0 Standard version.

Additionally, Fujitsu has introduced the fi-4340C color, departmental duplex scanner with Hi-Speed USB 2.0. Fujitsu will be demonstrating its entire enterprise scanner line in booth #500 during the 2005 AIIM ON DEMAND Conference & Exposition, May 17-19, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

VRS technology, the de facto industry standard for image processing, improves both image clarity and optical character recognition (OCR) accuracy, delivering unmatched quality and eliminating the need to rescan document images because of its automatic check for and adjustment of alignment (skew), brightness, contrast and image clarity. VRS 4.0 greatly accelerates the processing of documents, cuts the amount of time that knowledge workers spend on rescanning and improves their productivity by offering color processing and other capabilities that significantly reduce document preparation time by automatically handling blank or rotated pages, as well as white-or black-background scanners.

“Fujitsu and Kofax have enjoyed a long successful partnership when it comes to increasing scanning efficiency, improving workflow and reducing costs associated with scanning,” said Victor Kan, vice president, sales and marketing, Imaging Products Group, Fujitsu Computer Products of America, Inc. “Fujitsu is among the first document image vendors to incorporate VRS 4.0 technology into its scanner line and has always been at the forefront of scanning innovation. The AIIM conference, as always, will prove to be a great venue to show off the company’s new offerings.”

NetBeans Integrated Development Environment (IDE) First Free Tool Offering Complete Java Platform Support

NetBeans.org Reports Over 4.5 Million Downloads and New Plug-ins forWebLogic, WebSphere and Jboss

SANTA CLARA, Calif.
May 16, 2005

Sun Microsystems, Inc., inventor and leading advocate of Java technology, and the NetBeans software open source community today announced the availability of the NetBeans 4.1 Integrated Development Environment, the industry’s first free, Open Source Java IDE to fully support, out-of-the-box, Java 2 Standard Edition (J2SE) 5.0, full Java 2 Enterprise Edition (J2EE 1.4 and Java 2 Micro Edition (J2ME) 2.0 application development support. Additionally, netbeans.org also announced new open source projects focused on application server plug-ins for WebLogic, Webshpere and JBoss offerings. These plugins will enable NetBeans IDE 4.1 users to develop, test and deploy standard Java Web Services to the broadest array of target platforms.

“No other Java development tool on the market today combines the ease of use of NetBeans 4.1 with this level of comprehensive support for J2EE application development,” said Jeff Jackson, Vice President of Java Development and platform engineering for Sun Microsystems. “The search, download, test and assemble cycle that is required by other open source development offerings cannot even approximate what NetBeans provides out-of-the-box for free.”

The NetBeans IDE enhances developer workflow with its more intuitive interface, integrated Ant-based project management build environment and productivity tools that support agile development processes. NetBeans’ acclaimed advanced code editor, with built-in refactoring, helps developers code more accurately and more quickly. Mobile development support is augmented in this version with visual drag-and-drop MIDP authoring and a Wireless Connection Wizard for building end-to-end mobile applications.

“eBay Web Services makes a variety of tools and resources available to its Developers Program members to encourage the creation of new, innovative applications,” said Greg Isaacs, director of the eBay Developers Program. “The rich set of features and proven performance of the NetBeans IDE are two reasons the eBay SDK has been enabled to support this development environment.”

NetBeans 4.1 IDE supports the broadest array of Java technology-based solutions, from Java Web Services, to mobile Java applications, to applications deployments on the industry’s most advanced desktop environments. With the Sun Java System Application Server Platform Edition 8.1 deployment runtime integrated at no additional cost., NetBeans offers the industry’s most cost effective IDE for building web services.

Advanced features in NetBeans guide the developer and automatically build the underlying J2EE application infrastructure, making it easier than ever to develop J2EE platform 1.4 applications. To further assist the developer, the Java BluePrints Solutions Catalog and an updated performance profiler are also available. The profiler enables memory profiling, leak detection, CPU performance profiling, low-overhead profiling, task-based profiling and tight integration into the IDE workflow.

The NetBeans platform is a 100 percent Java technology-based IDE and runs on any operating system with a Java 2 technology-compatible Java Virtual Machine. This includes the Solaris Operating System, Windows, Linux and Macintosh platforms. NetBeans is also the foundation for Sun’s Java development tools offerings, including the award winning Sun Java Studio Enterprise and Sun Java Studio Creator.

Gaisler Research AB is awarded a contract for development of a System on Chip (SoC) ASIC

June 16, 2005

A contract has been signed by Gaisler Research AB and Saab Ericsson Space AB. The aim of the contract is to develop and validate a System on a Chip ASIC intended for future European Space missions. The ASIC is based on the fault tolerant LEON2 processor, with additional functions to interface various equipment and payload within a spacecraft.

This contract is yet another example where the LEON processor is used in complex System On a Chip designs. The use of the GRLIB IP- library, ideally suited for SoC designs and implementing plug and play capabilities, greatly minimizes the engineering effort, says Sandi Habinc the System Manager of Gaisler Research AB.

About Gaisler Research AB

Gaisler Research AB is a provider of SoC solutions for exceptionally competitive markets such as Aerospace, Military and demanding Commercial applications. The Gaisler Research’s products consist of user-customizable 32-bit SPARC V8 processor cores, peripheral IP-cores and associated software and development tools. Gaisler Research solutions help companies develop highly competitive customer and application-specific SoC designs.
