I. A. – nSTOR SHOWCASES NEW FIBRE CHANNEL, NETWORK ATTACHED STORAGE, ULTRA2 (LVDS) AND TAPE ARRAY PRODUCTS AT NETWORLD+INTEROP

Lake Mary, FL–May 4, 1998– nStore Corporation, Inc., (AMEX: NSO), a leading manufacturer of RAID subsystem and information storage solutions, exhibited their new CR8F and CR18F Fibre Channel storage solutions at the Networld+Interop (N+I) show in Las Vegas, May 5-7, 1998. nStor also displayed several other new cross-platform products including a Network Attached Storage (NAS) module option for the award-winning CR8e and CR8j, the CR8T AIT-based tape array subsystem, the CR8L Ultra2 low voltage differential SCSI (LVDS) RAID subsystem, and their enhanced AdminiStor(tm) Storage Management software.

“The addition of Fibre Channel, LVDS and NAS provides nStor customers with a complete array of storage solutions to offer network administrations the maximum bandwidth, availability, scalability and connectivity they need to meet their storage objectives, regardless of operating system platform or storage technology,” said Steven Paulhus, director of marketing for nStor Corporation. “All of nStor’s products offer users a level of I/O performance commensurate with the processing power found in networked and clustered server environments, making them ideal for multimedia, video, web, and online transaction processing environments.”

ADMINISTOR MANAGEMENT SOFTWARE nStor’s enhanced AdminiStor (tm) Management Software, featuring a Java-based applet designed to provide remote monitoring and management capability from anywhere in the world via the Internet, will also be on display. nStor’s storage management philosophy is to provide system administrators with enterprise-wide RAID management and monitoring capabilities with a common interface across multiple platforms, including Novell NetWare, Windows NT, Silicon Graphics-IRIX, and Sun Microsystems Solaris. AdminiStor is included free with all CR8e, CR8L, CR8F and CR18F subsystems.

Additional Information about nStor and its products can be found on the World Wide Web at http://www.nstor.com or by calling 1-800-724-3511.

I. B. – SUN SLASHES PRICES, BOOSTS PERFORMANCE ACROSS WORKSTATION PRODUCT LINE

Palo Alto, CA–May 5, 1998- Less than four months after unveiling its new line of highly successful workstations, Sun Microsystems (TM), Inc., is cranking up the heat on the competition by lowering prices by as much as 27% on its Ultra (TM)5, Ultra 10 and Ultra 60 workstations and increasing performance up to 43% (1) with a new 360MHz Ultra 60 workstation.

“Sun’s latest price cuts continue the company’s long-standing history of driving prices down in the workstation market,” said Keren Seymour, senior analyst at International Data Corporation.”Today’s announcement, especially the price reductions on the recently-launched Ultra 5 and Ultra 10, enhance their competitive position in both the UNIX TM and NT markets.”

Unlike Windows NT, which is challenged by large data sets required to create complex products, the Ultra 10 and Ultra 60 with the Solaris 2.6 operating environment are capable of handling large models such as Rocketdyne Propulsion and Power’s design for next-generation space shuttle engines.

“At McLaren, reducing design time is critical to maintaining our number one position,”; said Kevin Masterson, Technical Computing Manager at McLaren International, a top Formula One racing team. “We’ve used the Ultra 60 workstation to dramatically reduce the processing time of our computational fluid dynamics work using Star-CD and 3D modeling problems running on CADDS 5. We’re now able to run an analysis that normally took four days, 24 hours per day, to complete and finish it in three [days] with the new 360MHz Ultra 60 workstation.”

Protecting Customer Investment The Solaris operating environment is the only operating system that scales across an entire enterprise – ranging from sub-$2,500 workstations to $1+ million mainframe-class servers – giving customers seamless application compatibility to provide investment protection. Unlike 32-bit personal computers, Sun workstations are 64-bit systems and include a design philosophy that incorporates high-performance networking and graphics into the heart of its systems. Customers can run the more than 12,000 Solaris applications which offer proven UNIX reliability/uptime and can handle larger data sets and deliver faster real-world modeling capabilities than the Windows NT environment.
